As whisky matures, a small measure evaporates — the Angel’s Share. This slow loss enriches the spirit, concentrating flavour and character. At Imbue, we embrace it as the quiet magic behind every drop.

Rich, robust and unapologetically full of character, Double Barrel is an Australian single malt that brings together a rather unusual barrel history and a generous splash of Imbue ingenuity.

Some barrels have more stories to tell than others. Our Double Barrel began its journey in small 20-litre casks with quite the history. Originally bourbon barrels, they were re-coopered and went on to mature whisky for two Tasmanian distilleries before finding their way to Imbue.

After three years maturing in these well-travelled casks, we transferred our single malt into our own Pinot brandy barrels for a final flourish. The result is a deeply coloured, richly layered whisky with aromas of worn leather, grape must and brown sugar. Green apple acidity brings brightness to the palate, balanced by raisins and a savoury hint of sage, before a lingering finish of warm tannins and white pepper heat.

Bottled at a punchy 58.6% ABV, Double Barrel is our strongest Angel’s Share release to date. Complex, distinctive and certainly not one to be rushed.
